Iraq is facing water shortage problem despite the presence of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. In this research, long rainfall trends up to the year 2099 were studied in Sulaimani city northeast Iraq to give an idea about future prospects. The medium high (A2) and medium low B2 scenarios have been used for purpose of this study as they are more likely than others scenarios, that beside the fact that no climate modeling canter has performed GCM (global climate model) simulations for more than a few emissions scenarios (HadCM3 has only these two scenarios) otherwise pattern scaling can be used for generating different scenarios which entail a huge uncertainty. The results indicate that the average annual rainfall shows a significant downward trend for both A2 and B2 scenarios. In addition, winter projects increase/decrease in the daily rainfall statistics of wet days, the spring season show very slight drop and no change for both scenarios. However, both summer and autumn shows a significant reduction in maximum rainfall value especially in 2080s while the other statistics remain nearly the same. The extremes events are to decrease slightly in 2080s with highest decrease associated with A2 scenario. This is due to the fact that rainfall under scenario A2 is more significant than under scenario B2. The return period of a certain rainfall will increase in the future when a present storm of 20 year could occur once every 43 year in the 2080s. An increase in the frequency of extreme rainfall depends on several factors such as the return period, season of the year, the period considered as well as the emission scenario used. 相似文献

Bacterial meningitis is an ongoing threat for the population of the African Meningitis Belt, a region characterized by the highest incidence rates worldwide. The determinants of the disease dynamics are still poorly understood; nevertheless, it is often advocated that climate and mineral dust have a large impact. Over the last decade, several studies have investigated this relationship at a large scale. In this analysis, we scaled down to the district-level weekly scale (which is used for in-year response to emerging epidemics), and used wavelet and phase analysis methods to define and compare the time-varying periodicities of meningitis, climate and dust in Niger. We mostly focused on detecting time-lags between the signals that were consistent across districts. Results highlighted the special case of dust in comparison to wind, humidity or temperature: a strong similarity between districts is noticed in the evolution of the time-lags between the seasonal component of dust and meningitis. This result, together with the assumption of dust damaging the pharyngeal mucosa and easing bacterial invasion, reinforces our confidence in dust forcing on meningitis seasonality. Dust data should now be integrated in epidemiological and forecasting models to make them more realistic and usable in a public health perspective. 相似文献

How do the new building façade components work under real climatic conditions? The question is especially related to the dynamic behaviour of new and complex components such as the ventilated walls, the Phase Change Material, or others that use nano-technologies and aerogels. One of the objectives of the undergoing research activity, named Abitare Mediterraneo, is the evaluation of their thermal behaviour through the use of an outdoor test cell, in order to reproduce under the real external conditions the performance of these components, and consequently define the main thermal parameters such as the attenuation factor and the thermal inertia, characterising the component; moreover, the results will be used to write new algorithms for dynamic simulation tools allowing an appropriate evaluation of the complex behaviour of the whole building at a real scale condition. The new test cell is realised in Florence, Italy. One-second irradiance data from forty-five sensors spaced over a one-mile square section of land were analyzed to characterize the short-term (1-s to 1-min) variability of the solar resource in Northern Arizona. The geostatistical interpolation model known as kriging was applied to our data set to better understand the method's strengths and weaknesses in accurately predicting the variations in the irradiance over this relatively small section of land. Of particular interest was to investigate the ability of the kriging method to show the variation in solar irradiance over the section of land as compared to that measured by the sensors. When using data from all the sensors as input to the prediction method, kriging performed very well compared to the sensors. However, because it is unlikely to have a large number of sensors to characterize the variability at a prospective solar site, it was also of interest to investigate how many sensors are required as input to the kriging technique in order to generate a reliable prediction. Solar data from four characteristic periods (related to the four seasons) were analyzed, and different sensor configurations, consisting of subsets of the actual sensor array, were employed using the method to demonstrate the number of sensors required to correctly characterize the short-term irradiance variability at the site. Using four measurement stations as input to the kriging method was shown to reasonably represent the variability in the 1-s to 1-min timescales. 相似文献

The biosynthesis of the phenolic fraction of olive fruits during ripening and the transformations occurring in this moiety during virgin olive oil (VOO) extraction are discussed in this paper. The influence of agronomical factors that can significantly affect the phenolic profile of VOO is also discussed. Particularly, it is worth emphasizing the role of genetic factors, cultivation and climatic conditions such as water availability, atmospheric temperature, altitude, health status of the fruits, alternate bearing in the olive, and some processing factors such as crushing, malaxation time and temperature or volume of water added during milling. Among these parameters, special attention has been paid to genetic factors due to the high variability observed among Olea europaea genotypes for all recorded traits. In this context, interesting experimental results have been obtained with cultivated and wild olive trees, and also with segregating populations resulting from olive breeding programs. To the authors' knowledge, reviews evaluating the influence of the main factors that contribute to the profile of hydrophilic phenols have not been previously published. The discussion concerning olive breeding programs is a major and novel aspect to be emphasized considering recent trends to obtain new olive cultivars that confer better organoleptic properties and better quality to VOO. 相似文献

本文基于长期监测数据,研究了由环境温度、风、交通荷载和识别算法所引起的悬索桥模态频率识别的变异性。首先,采用多样本平均方法建立了温度-频率的季节相关性,减小了频率由识别算法导致的随机误差。其次,将模态频率归一化至某一参考温度以消除温度对频率的影响。通过分析小风速状态下温度归一化频率和加速度响应均方根的相关性,对交通荷载引起的频率变异性进行了定量评价,在此基础上采用交通荷载-频率相关性模型消除了交通荷载对频率的影响,最后定量评价了风速对模态频率的影响。分析结果表明:本文提出的方法可以给出大跨桥梁结构模态频率识别的变异性的量化评价,但目前模态频率的识别方法仍需进一步改进。 相似文献

Many indoor and outdoor factors (e.g., the presence of occupants, hot-water supply equipment, the use of hygroscopic materials, and ventilation) contribute to indoor humidity. It is important to investigate and understand the contribution of each factor to indoor humidity and to establish an effective method for the design and control of indoor humidity. In this study, indoor humidity was treated as a linear summation of the contribution of various factors, all of which can cause an increase or decrease in indoor humidity. New indices for assessing the contribution of factors to the humidity distribution in a room are proposed as Contribution Ratios of Humidity (CRI(H)) 1, 2, and 3 which can be calculated based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. Furthermore, a transient simulation based on CRI(H)1 and the Contribution Ratio of Indoor Climate (CRI(C)) was developed to predict the indoor humidity distribution. A 100-day transient analysis was performed in a living room in which moisture-buffering materials were used. The simulation results were compared with those from a well-mixed zonal model and a CFD transient analysis to confirm the effectiveness of the approach. The analysis provided the three-dimensional spatial distribution of indoor humidity and temperature with good prediction accuracy. The calculation time was approximately equal to that of the well-mixed zonal model and much faster than that of the CFD transient analysis. 相似文献

The climate modeling community has been challenged to develop a method for improving the simulation of the Pacific-North America (PNA) teleconnection pattern in climate models. The accuracy of PNA teleconnection simulation is significantly improved by considering mesoscale convection contributions to sea surface fluxes. The variation in the PNA over the past 22 years was simulated by the Grid Atmospheric Model of IAP LASG version 1.0 (GAMIL1.0), which was guided by observational SST from January 1979 to December 2000. Results show that heating in the tropical central-eastern Pacific is simulated more realistically, and sea surface latent heat flux and precipitation anomalies are more similar to the reanalysis data when mesoscale enhance ment is considered during the parameterization scheme of sea surface turbulent fluxes in GAMIL1.0. Realistic heat ing in the tropical central-eastern Pacific in turn signifi cantly improves the simulation of interannual variation and spatial patterns of PNA. 相似文献
